From KMCP Graduate to xCKMO
A pathway for experienced Knowledge Management professionals ready to move from certification toward executive-level fractional KM leadership.
What is an xCKMO?
An xCKMO, or Fractional Chief Knowledge Management Officer, is an experienced Knowledge Management leader who supports an organization on a part-time, advisory or embedded basis. The model provides senior KM leadership for organizations that need strategic capability but may not require a permanent full-time executive.
Why the pathway matters
For the professional
KMCP establishes a professional foundation. Qualified practitioners can build on that foundation and progress toward strategic advisory and executive-facing KM work.
For the organization
The xCKMO model provides access to experienced Knowledge Management leadership in a flexible delivery model.
Eligibility
KMCP completion does not automatically confer xCKMO status. Candidates considered for the pathway must meet the professional requirements established by Knoco International.
- Successful completion of the KMCP program
- A master’s degree or higher in a relevant field
- At least 10 years of hands-on Knowledge Management experience
- A current professional CV or resume documenting KM roles, responsibilities and results
- Willingness to enter into applicable confidentiality and intellectual property agreements if selected
What experience counts?
Relevant applied experience may include KM strategy, governance, implementation, Lessons Learned, knowledge retention, Communities of Practice, organizational learning, knowledge structures, AI knowledge readiness and related work that connects KM to operational or strategic outcomes.
What happens after interest is submitted?
Knoco International reviews candidate information against the initial qualification criteria. Candidates whose background aligns with the pathway may be contacted for additional documentation and next-step review. Meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee selection.
